Yuri Granitsky

Yuri Granitski was born on April 12, 1961. at the same moment when Gagarin flew into space. He began to paint at the age of five, nurtured with the ideas of science fiction, ancient philosophy and poetics, folk tales and classic Renaissance models.

He graduated from the "Ilia Petrov" NUII in Sofia, and then specialized in "Illustration and book design" at the National Academy of Arts. He worked as an artist in BNT, in the newspaper "Demokratsia" as a cartoonist of political cartoons, caricatures and advertising layouts, and he took part in freelance media and publishing houses with many featured works.

He was an artist in a gallery on an ocean cruise ship for "Carnival" in America, for "Talink" in Estonia and Sweden, and he participated in international biennales, competitions, exhibitions and plein airs in Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, the USA.

In his art, he is deeply attracted by the understanding of freedom, of interconnectedness, of responsibility in the search for balance in the material world and harmony in the spiritual world. The contradictions of modernity are his fuel in the creative experiment. Through various technological connections for a new plastic sound and new combinations of mixed media, he achieves new dimensions of beauty in his paintings. It is its constant reinvention that is a challenge for the seeker of uniqueness in diversity.

Yuri Granitsky belongs to the people who, contemplating beauty, start to dream.
